It is with deep sadness that we record the loss of a great scientist in the field of agricultural machinery, the fellow and president of ISTVS from 1999-2002, Professor Helmut Schwanghart. He passed away last week at the age of 83.

Professor Helmut Schwanghart visited Jilin University of Technology for academic activity several times. Everybody who has known Professor Schwanghart must feel a great loss caused by his death. Professor Helmut Schwanghart contributions to agricultural machinery will be long remembered by all those who had worked with him or known him and by generations.

ISBE has signed the Memorandum of Understanding with ISTVS in March, 2018, which further strengthened the cooperation relationship between the two Societies. ISTVS is an educational, non-profit, non-political, organization founded in 1962 incorporated in the State of North Carolina, USA. The mission of the ISTVS is to advance the knowledge in terrain-vehicle systems for improvements in engineering practice and for innovation; in the terrain-vehicle domain, to promote the transfer of advanced knowledge to the user for the benefit of society at large in environmental protection, energy conservation, and sustainable development.
