The 2018 IFAC Conference on Advances in Proportional-Integral-Derivative Control will be held Wednesday through Friday, May 9-11, 2018.
Holiday Inn Gent Expo offers a top level meeting venue, providing a restaurant and a bar, a fitness centre and free wired and wireless internet throughout the hotel. Bicycle rental services are available. At 100 m from Holiday Inn Gent Expo you'll find a tram stop which offers access to the historical centre of Ghent every 10 minutes and Ghent Sint-Pieters Station. The hotel is easily accessible by car via E40, E17 and A17 Motorways. Parking at a reduced rate is possible or free parking at IKEA.

During the conference two challenging competitions for students (and not only) are featured.
1. The PID 2018 conference will feature a benchmark process challenge. The results will be presented in a special session during the conference.

2. The PID 2018 conference will encourage (under)graduate students to participate in a challenging cobot competition. For this, the students need to program 2 universal robots (UR5 cobots) to execute the task of a bartender (see movie below). The competition will be organized by Cosmin Copot (University of Antwerp) and Stijn Derammelaere (University of Antwerp), in collaboration with sponsoring members/companies. More details will be announced soon.
The award will be presented at the 'Closing Reception' on Friday 11 May 2018. The award will consist of a monetary prize and a diploma.
Submission: Authors can choose to submit just an abstract or a full paper as appropriate to their proposed contribution. Both types of submission will appear in the final programme equally.
Abstracts of 1 page are accepted, abstracts need to be send directly to pid18@ugent.be with the reference IBCE Workshop Abstract. This will not be included in the proceedings.
