Additive Manufacturing Technology, a new technology based on material packing method, develops in America since 1980s, and it is considered as an impressive achievement in the field of manufacturing. At the very beginning, Addictive Manufacturing Technology developed due to the requirement of fast manufacturing for models, so it is usually called “Rapid Proto-typing” technology. After 25 years of development, Additive Manufacturing Technology got rapid progress, and developed from the rapid prototyping of conceptual models and communication models to an advanced manufacturing technology covering all links of design, development and manufacturing for products. It is much better than the original rapid proto-typing technology. In 2009, ASTM set up Committee F42, and collectively called various RP “Additive Manufacturing” Technology, which was widely accepted and adopted in the world.
